How EU energy supply works
Since 2022 the EU has rebuilt its gas supply around LNG imports and non-Russian pipeline routes, backed by a coordinated storage-filling target of around 90% by 1 November. The bloc-wide figure hides a wide spread: some member states sit near target while others lag well behind.
What to watch
The distribution of storage matters more than the average heading into winter, and the return of Gulf LNG to Europe depends on the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Jet-fuel and diesel premiums are the products to watch.
